Yu-Beng is a familiar face on stage and screen. An early member of the TheatreWorks team, he was on the forefront of much of their pioneering work, and remains a force on the Singapore stage, winning Best Actor in 2005, Best Supporting Actor in 2004, and being in the Best Acting Ensemble in 2002, all for the Life! Theatre Awards. In 2005 he was also nominated for Best Actor in the Asian Television Awards. In 1994 he was awarded a British Council Fellowship for his work in Singaporean theatre.
For fifteen years now he has been teaching acting at LaSalle College of the Arts. Many of his past students are well-established in the industry today, at home and abroad. He recently wrote and directed two original plays, and is working on his third. He continues to explore new ground, and works extensively as an actor, director, writer, acting coach, lighting designer, fight choreographer and whatever it takes to get the show up.
